These are tennis classes for complete beginners in Barcelona, for someone who has genuinely never played. Not a trial lesson, not a drop-in class you turn up to once, but a beginner tennis course with a start and a finish: nine hours of coaching, split into six sessions of an hour and a half, taught by Pavel Viks himself at CEM Tennis l'Hospitalet.

Groups are capped at four players, so you're never standing in a queue waiting for your turn. Rackets are provided for every session, which means you can find out whether you actually enjoy tennis before spending anything on equipment. Trainers and something comfortable to move in are all you need to bring.

Times are flexible. Weekdays or weekends, mornings, afternoons or evenings, tell us when works for you and we'll fit you into a group that matches.

What you'll learn

What beginners learn in nine hours

Enough to walk onto a court in Barcelona with friends afterwards and actually play a game, rather than just hit a few balls.

01

Forehand & backhand

How to hold the racket, where to stand, and how to make contact so the ball goes where you meant it to.

02

Serve & return

A serve you can actually start a point with, and what to do when one comes back at you.

03

Rallying & movement

Keeping the ball in play for more than two shots, and getting your feet to the ball in time.

04

Scoring & playing points

How a game, a set and a match are actually scored, then putting it together and playing.

Scheduling

Class times that fit around your week

Most beginner tennis classes in Barcelona run at one fixed slot and you either make it or you don't. This course doesn't work that way.

Weekdays or weekends

Whichever fits your week. If Saturday morning is the only time you're free, that works.

Morning, afternoon or evening

Before work, in the middle of the day, or after it. All three are possible.

Come as a group, or on your own

Sign up with friends and you're the group. On your own, we'll put you with other beginners starting at the same point.

Message us on WhatsApp with the days and times that suit you, and we'll confirm the schedule once your group of four is set.

Who this is for

Who these beginner tennis classes are for

Day one

Never held a racket

You don't need to know anything in advance. Everyone in the group is starting from the same place.

Restarting

Played once, years ago

If tennis was something you tried at school and never came back to, this rebuilds it properly from the ground up.

Together

Friends, couples, colleagues

Four spots per group, so you can book the whole thing with people you already know and learn together.

Where

Where the classes run in Barcelona

All six sessions take place at CEM Tennis l'Hospitalet in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, immediately southwest of central Barcelona, and easy to reach from Sants, Cornellà, Esplugues and Sant Joan Despí. Same courts every session, so there's nothing to keep track of once you've started.

FAQ

Beginner tennis in Barcelona: common questions

At CEM Tennis l'Hospitalet, in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat on the southwest edge of Barcelona. All six sessions are at the same courts.

€215 per person for the whole course. That's the full nine hours, all six sessions, court time, rackets and balls, coached by Pavel Viks. It isn't a per-session price.

Yes, that's exactly who it's built for. It assumes no tennis background whatsoever, and everyone in your group of four will be starting from the same place.

No. Rackets are provided for all six sessions. Bring trainers you can move in and something comfortable to wear, that's it. If you decide to buy your own later, Pavel will tell you what's worth getting.

English. Pavel also coaches in Russian and Estonian, so say which you'd prefer when you get in touch.

Not at all. It's a beginner course, the pace is set by the group, and in a group of four nobody is being pushed to keep up with anyone else. The focus is on technique and getting the ball in play, not on fitness.

Yes, and it's a good way to do it. Four of you is exactly one group, so you'd have the course to yourselves. If you're coming alone or as a pair, we'll place you with other beginners.

Most people move into Group Classes, which run on an ongoing basis at both venues. Others carry on one-to-one with Private Coaching. Pavel will tell you honestly which makes more sense for you by the end of the course.

Nine hours from now, you'll be playing.
